Two Islamic State (IS) militants were captured with suspicion that they were “preparing for an attack on New Year's Eve” in Turkey's capital Ankara.
Ankara Chief Prosecutor's Office made a statement on Dec. 30 that counter-terrorism police have captured the two suspects in Ankara's Mamak district.
Identified as M.C. and A.Y., the suspects “of Turkish origin” were scouting in a mall and two bars in Ankara's central Kızılay.
Suicide vests and explosives with steel balls and sticks were seized within the operation, while investigations continue.
