Suspected IS members including three Russians detained

Turkey has been launching operations to track and detain Islamic State (IS) militants in different provinces across Turkey, over the bomb attack in Istanbul by the jihadist organization that has killed 10 and injured 15.

The police detained nine members of the IS including three Russian citizens, in Antalya and İzmir.

Police reportedly launched an operation in the southern province of Antalya where it seized large numbers of organizational documents and detained three Russian citizens suspected of IS membership.

Meanwhile, police launched simultaneous operations on six addresses in the Aegean province of İzmir at dawn on Jan. 13.

Six suspects believed to have recruited militants for IS were detained in the operation.

According to reports, police seized documents, shotguns and air guns in the operation.

Four arrested in Konya

In Konya, four people detained by anti-terror branch teams for suspected links to the group was arrested by the court.

The suspected IS militants were accused of logistic support and recruitment to the IS, as well as easing crossing to Syria in a bid to join the organization.

Digital data and IS-linked documents were seized be police teams.

The detentions come just a day after an IS suicide bomber killed 10 foreign nationals, mostly German tourists and wounded 15 people after blowing himself up at a tourist spot in Istanbul's old city.
