The baby, identified as Miray İnce, was shot in the back of her head reportedly while in her mother's lap inside their house in the Sur neighborhood of Şırnak's Cizre district at 10:45 a.m.
The family swiftly called an ambulance for the gravely wounded baby, but the ambulance could not enter the street due to trenches, barricades and ongoing clashes on Sukanalı Street.
Miray's 73-year-old grandfather, Ramazan İnce, and her aunt Rukiye İnce made a run toward the ambulance. The trio, however, were struck by bullets once more according to witness accounts. The origin of the gunshots could not be determined.
All three were transferred to Cizre State Hospital for treatment where the baby succumbed to her wounds.
After first aid, Ramazan and Rukiye İnce were sent to Aşkın Tüfekçi State Hospital in Adana via air ambulance.
Miray's grandfather also lost his life in Adana while Rukiye İnce remains in the intensive care unit following a surgery.
